Wednesday, January 7th was my Gallery Exhbit Opening at the Steinbach Arts Council – Hall Gallery. There was quite a turn-out of people and I was very pleased to see so many people there. I was especially thrilled to have some of my clients there as well, many of my family, and my photographer friends. I was thrilled when my best friend, Inge and her husband, Michael came out all the way from Brandon for this evening. All the photos in this post are taken by Inge.

Above is Bill Krahn, representing Vic Toews – Member of Parliament for Provencher, admiring the image titled “Begonia”.
Below is Michael Skliros reading the story behind the image titled “The Guardian” – an image taken during my October African trip.

Kim Gwodz, local artist, signing the guest book. When Kim had a display last year, I attended her opening and fell in love with one of her paintings and it is now featured in my home! Thank you Kim!

Here I am speaking with another local artist, Bruno Leppelmann.

Waiting for the formal part of the evening to begin. The MC was a volunteer for the Arts Council, and another local artist, Debbie Giesbrecht. I photographed her son’s wedding a few years ago and have known her for years! She did a great job that evening!

Greetings from Bill Krahn, Vic Toews office; Michael Zwaagstra, City of Steinbach Councillor, Art Rempel, Board Member of the Steinbach Arts Council.

And, then I said a few words as well. I hate public speaking – doesn’t everyone??

My good friend, Bruce Hendricks also came out for the opening. Bruce was the 2006 Photographer of the Year for the Professional Photographers of Canada-Manitoba!

Here is my very best friend, Inge – the one who took all of these photos! Thanks Inge!

Other photographer friends that came out for the opening:
Jeremy, Patty, Joel, Manny, and Trevor. I was honoured to have some of the best photographers in Manitoba come out! Thanks!

This was the youngest person in attendance – little Ethan Schellenberg along with his mom, Gloria. Ethan is my great-nephew and, of course, his mom is my niece-in-law!

Here I am in conversation with some of my clients, Faith Reimer and Bev Penner. On the right is Dennis Fast, a local wildlife and nature photographer.

Okay, Jeremy – what are you saying about my image? Is it the “African Landscape” or “River Zebra” you’re commenting on?

This is a shot (taken by Bernie Boily) of all the photographers present! (Manny why did you stick out your tongue???)

The last shot is one of my family members that came to the Opening. Thank YOU all for coming! I love you all!

So if you didn’t get a chance to come out to the opening, never fear – the exhibit is on till the 2nd of February. Hours to view the images are: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Fridays, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
P.S. These images are all available for purchase, except for the image on display titled “Timid Tulips” – but if you would like to purchase that one, it can be ordered!
