In June 2010 a client of mine asked me if I would donate to a fundraiser they were doing for a wonderful cause. They called it “Moving Muchanga”. I immediately said yes and donated two canvas prints that I took while on a Photo Safari in Africa in October 2008. Besides those prints, I also donated a gift of a portrait. The recipient of that gift portrait was Tiny Vos. Because her family is not all living here in Manitoba, she asked if she could wait to use it till they were all together. Of course! In October of this year, Tiny came in for a planning session and told me the photograph would include the 9 grandchildren only. On November 8th they arrived for their session. I had not met them before and when they first arrived, I sensed they were a bit hesitant. I do find that when I have photographed someone before, it’s so much easier to get them to relax. I invited them into the camera room (mom’s not allowed) and was amazed at how much fun we all had. These kids were relaxed in front of the camera and did anything I asked them to!

The following photo is the one that will be displayed on Grandmother’s wall.

When I asked them if they wanted to try to do a pyramid shot – they were all for it!

There’s something I like about this one – I think it is the fact that they’re all holding hands…

Little Rhett comes to town!

The other day little Rhett came by for his 10 month portrait. What a happy child he was! He just sat there and reacted to everything I did. He gave me some serious looks, some big smiles – he was just great to photograph! My favorite thing is when I get intense expressions from young children. You just wonder what is going through their thoughts. I adored his lips – what a catch he will be when he gets older! :-)

Christmas photos with the 3 Divas!

Last year, I had the 2 Divas come by for their Christmas portrait. Since then the 3rd Diva arrived into this family. The Divas is what Nicole and Craig call their girls – they are absolutely adorable. Well this past Saturday they came in for their 2010 Christmas photo. I gave the girls some plastic Christmas ornaments and they had a blast playing with them. Here are some of my favorites!

Kas and Lorraine … back again!

Kas and Lorraine and family came by this August for a family portrait. This was in celebration of their family and their 5th wedding anniversary! The children were a joy to watch! The first time Kas and Lorraine came to see me was for their first wedding anniversary in 2006!

They were back in 2008 with Blake and now in 2010 when little Kaylee joined the family. Kas and Lorraine your family has grown in just 5 years – congratulations!

Sensitive boy

A couple of weeks ago, my great-niece and nephews came into the studio. The three of them have such wonderful personalities and I enjoy trying to capture them! They have gotten used to Auntie Marlene photographing them and are very relaxed in front of the camera.
