You don’t! You take them all! Now some people might call these ‘Lifestyle’ photographs, but these are MORE than that! You have control of the lighting and posing even though it doesn’t look like you have posed this family. Now THAT’S what professional photography is all about – making it look unposed when you have actually guided people into position. They’re NOT just ‘snapshots’ like all the ‘cheap and cheerful’ photographers out there claim are ‘Lifestyle’ photography. You have captured the relationships in this family perfectly, and I can feel the warmth among the family members. How lucky are they to have had you as their photographer!

Thank you Inge. It takes years to learn all the rules of composition and lighting and how to use your camera – and once you’ve perfected that – you can break the rules! You’re right – these photographs didn’t ‘just happen’ – I guided each and every ‘pose’ and know how to use window light to my advantage!  Larissa was another one of my High School Seniors that asked me to wait till after Grad to post some of her images. She came in on the 27th of May in the late afternoon. The weather was overcast and gorgeous for some outdoor portraits – but we did the majority of the photos... by admin 1 comment

hey marlene… these pictures are amazing.. she looks so good…  On June 2nd (after many attempts at scheduling a session), Chloe came in for her High School Senior portrait session. When she walked out of the dressing room, I had to take in a quick breath – she was stunning! I blurted out, ‘You look like Celopatra!’ Chloe broke into a large smile and... by admin no comments  This is just a random post. I blush Marlene! It is you who brought me to where I am in my photography career. Your mentoring has made me what I am today, without you I would not be as successful in my chosen second career. We love having you here in Brandon, and miss you as soon as you have rounded the corner on your way home. It seems we feed off eachother, whether we’re talking shop, or Africa or Disney. oooxxx  I’ve not posted for awhile because I’ve been busy photographing high school senior grads. And many of them are telling me they don’t want me to post their images till after grad – don’t want anyone to see the dress before that day! :-) But, Victoria said I could go ahead and post some. Wow Vicky is just gorgeous. I love these pictures. She is such a great person. Her mom and dad must be going crazy over these photos. I can’t wait till next year for Louise’s turn.These are amazing pictures. You did it again Marlene.

WOW is right. Great images Marlene with beautiful lighting. Isn’t it amazing how the lighting can set the mood of the portrait. Hope your clients realize how lucky they are to be beneficiaries or your talent.

My absolute favourite is image #3! Not that the others aren’t gorgeous, but my choice is #3. How lucky Victoria is to have these photos to remember her graduating year! She is a lovely young lady and you have made her look like a fashion model. |
