Louise LOVES pink!

“Marlene did my son’s Grad portraits 3 years ago and I knew she was the one to do my daughter’s. Louise is not the easiest to photograph, but Marlene knows how to get the best out of her. We brought all things precious to her and the portraits turned out fabulous. We are so glad we had them done at Marlene’s. They are photographs we will cherish forever. Louise says she is glad Marlene put all her stuff in her photos.” Carolle Beaudry, St. Pierre, Manitoba

Louise’s mom came by today to pick up the grad portraits. She went on to say that the grad ceremony happened yesterday and it was a perfect day! Louise had been ecstatic to receive her diploma and go onstage – with all the parents in the audience watching. During the ceremonies, Louise sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and apparently there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. How wonderful – I wish I could have been there to see that.

Louise has been coming in for a few years now and, of course, when it came time for her graduation – she had to come back! :-)

Louise looked gorgeous in her pink dress. But we didn’t just photograph her in her grad dress – we also did some casual photos and we used a basketball – pink, of course! She’s really a great basketball player I’m told!

Louise is really close to her brother, Chris, and so we photographed the two of them together as well.

Sneak Preview – Tahnee – High School Senior

When Tahnee’s mom described her grad dress to me during the initial phone call I couldn’t imagine it at all. “It’s yellow and grey and black. It’s got checks, layers, wavy stripes.” What? Nope, I couldn’t imagine it at all! Tahnee and her Mom came in for a consult and showed me a photo of the dress and I was blown away. Gorgeous! Absolutely breathtaking – and I knew it would suit Tahnee perfectly! Tahnee has been involved in gymnastics for quite some time and they were interested in having some photos taken of her with some of the items she uses when competing. Another challenge for me! So here are some photos done at her high school senior portrait session…

Sorry – you’ll have to wait till after grad – I promised not to reveal what the dress looks like! Tahnee – your portraits are fabulous – you’re a great model – and SO easy to photograph!

Chris & Laurel’s house has just grown by two feet!

This past Monday I had the opportunity to photograph little two week old Mason. He was supposed to make his professional photography debut at 10 days old, but little Mason couldn’t make it at that time. So a short while later his Mommy and Daddy, Laurel and Chris, brought him here so I could meet him and photograph him! It took a bit of coaxing to have him fall asleep – but with patience – it worked! Chris asked me why I wanted all the photos of Mason sleeping – I told him newborn babies tend to cry and fuss and flail around when they’re awake – but when they’re asleep it is much easier to photograph them. And I love the soft, gentle expressions you get.

Laurel and Chris were going to come in today to view their images for the first time, but, once again, circumstances happened to prevent that – and I couldn’t have them wait another week to see them – so here is a Sneak Peek at some of my favorites.

Kas and Lorraine … back again!

Kas and Lorraine and family came by this August for a family portrait. This was in celebration of their family and their 5th wedding anniversary! The children were a joy to watch! The first time Kas and Lorraine came to see me was for their first wedding anniversary in 2006!

They were back in 2008 with Blake and now in 2010 when little Kaylee joined the family. Kas and Lorraine your family has grown in just 5 years – congratulations!

I’m looking forward to your next family portrait!

September 1st – fall really seems to be in the air! I have an outdoor session scheduled for later today and one for tomorrow, but it is threatening rain. I always encourage my clients to book early – because once this time of year comes around – it seems like we run out of days to photograph! I’m looking out my office window and see my Green Ash trees starting to change from green to yellow. Yes – fall is definitely in the air!

So you’re probably wondering why I titled this “At my desk…”. I belong to a Discussion Board dedicated to maternity and newborn photography and we are given ‘assignments’. One of the assignments – ending tonight – is to do a “Self Portrait” that shows our likes or interests. Having left this till the last minute I needed to come up with something quickly. And then it hit me – I do spend so much time in front of my computers!!! So, you see me in this photograph sitting in front of “Toby” – he’s the guy that books my appointments and has my accounting software and all studio forms and policies, etc. He also loves searching the web and assists me in communicating with friends via email and Facebook. Behind me you can see “The Rock”. Now “The Rock” is absolutely amazing – he’s go so much brawn in his little body and he’s quite a work horse! He stores all my client files and only has a few tasks to do. Photoshop and Lightroom are his best friends. I won’t even get started on “New Guy”, “Mac” and “PPAM” – yes – I have 5 computers!!!!!

This is me – today!
