People always ask me why I am a photographer. For many years I found that difficult to answer. But having been a photographer for almost 40 years, and having photographed thousands of clients, I know why I do what I do.
I have heard so many stories from clients that the portrait I created for them is just priceless.
"You have given me something that is so precious, because I can never get it back... you have given me my 2 year old daughter for a lifetime."
"My 14 year old son didn't want to be in the family portraits, in fact, he was in his pajamas as we got in the car. I made him change while driving to the studio. At the consultation, you asked what was important to him, and I said his guitar. We brought his guitar, and when you took a few poses with him and his guitar, along with his younger brother, he lit up and actually started smiling! I will forever remember that day and all that was involved to get such a great portrait."
"I look at the portrait you took of my 5 day old baby and can't even remember that she was ever that small. You think you will remember, but you don't - except when you look at the portrait."
"My father-in-law has been diagnosed with cancer, and we want a portrait taken of the entire family. We want a portrait of all of us, so we can look back and see the legacy that he is leaving behind. We were so pleased that the session didn't take very long because he tired quickly, and that you got him to smile and relax. We will cherish these forever."
Whenever I photograph a small or large family, I realize that I have 'made time stand still'. If the shutter would not have been clicked at that exact moment, that memory is gone. So many people need to look at a photograph to remind them of happy and even sad times. When you ask to have your portrait created, I want to make sure that I create a Masterpiece - this is your family - this is your legacy - this is your Masterpiece - your family is the most precious gift to you and each other. Every time you will look at that portrait display on your wall, you will realize what is truly important to you.
That is why I do what I do. I want to create a legacy for generations to look back on and see where they came from.
